D/B Continuing Care Center

Dignity Health

HY Architects was part of the Design/Build team, HMH Builders (now Swinerton), for a $19M, multi-phased project for Dignity Health at the Mercy General Hospital in Sacramento, CA.

The scope of work involves the remodel of a 12,000 SF, 24-bed

medical-surgical unit - Continuing Care Center (skilled nursing unit). In addition, we were responsible for relocating the existing cafeteria from the East Wing to the South Wing and the designing two new exit stair towers at the Northeast and Southeast arms of the South Wing.

The new 4-story stair towers were critical to structurally stabilize the wings and provide required exits with the demolition of the East Wing.

The final phase of the project was the demolition of the East

Wing Building and conversion of the vacated space to a new

surface parking lot with sound privacy walls and landscaping.
